Soapmaking Classes

We are now offering private and small group soapmaking classes in our Columbia Tusculum studio. Classes are currently booking out 3 months in advance and all classes are scheduled via email. To get started, contact Laura@TheOakleySoapCo.com 

All classes are taught by Laura Pipitone, the owner and head soapmaker of The Oakley Co. Laura has over 7 years of soapmaking experience and is a certified soapmaker with the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetics Guild.

Class Offerings

Hands-on Cold Process Soapmaking for Beginners
$150 per person 

3 person max Approx 1.5- 2 hours

Learn to make soap from scratch using the cold process method. Each participant will learn the science and safety of soapmaking and get to make and take home their loaf of soap (10 bars) in a reusable silicone mold. 

All materials are included, including personal protective equipment.

This class includes working with dangerous lye and a safety waiver is required . All participants must be 16+. Participants ages 16 + 17 must be in attendance with a paid adult participant.  

Cold Process Soapmaking Demo
$40 per person.
6 people max in studio*. Approx 1 hour.

Learn the history and science of soapmaking and watch a live demo of a cold process soap being made. All participants get to choose a bar of Oakley Soap Co soap to take home.

Masks and eye protection will be provided as the demo includes lye. All participants must be 16+ and sign a safety waiver. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Students will NOT be making their own soap in this class.

 *We can also bring this class to you for an additional travel fee! 

Hands-on Melt and Pour Soapmaking - $25 per person

6 person max in studio*  Approx 45 minutes

Learn to make soap using a melt and pour base. Each participant will learn the science and safety of soapmaking and get to make 2 bars of soap with the color and scent of their choosing.

All materials are included, including personal protective equipment and soap molds. All participants must be 8+ and sign a safety waiver. Participants ages 8-18 must have be accompanied by an adult. This class does not use lye but does use hot melted soap.
